Sending your monthly payment to the correct address is crucial for We Energies customers in Wisconsin and Michigan. An outdated or incorrect payment address can cause processing delays, late fees, and even service disruptions. As a We Energies customer myself, I want to provide all the details on how to properly mail your bill payment.
We Energies New Payment Address
As of December 1 2022 We Energies has a new payment address that should be used for all mailed bill payments
We Energies
PO Box 1125
Glenview, IL 60025-8125
This new address in Glenview Illinois replaces the previous Milwaukee payment center.
If you pay online through the We Energies website or mobile app, your payment method does not need to be updated. The new address only applies to customers sending a paper check or money order by mail.
Updating Your Payment Address
If you pay your We Energies bill through an automatic online bill pay service from your bank or other financial institution, take these steps:
- Log into your bank or bill pay website.
- Locate your We Energies biller profile.
- Update the payment mailing address to the PO Box in Glenview, IL.
- Verify the new address was saved for future automated payments.
Calling your bank’s customer service line is another way to update your address. Inform them of the change to:
We Energies
PO Box 1125
Glenview, IL 60025-8125
Most banks should have the new address on file, but it doesn’t hurt to confirm.
Use the Correct 9-Digit Zip Code
Some bill pay sites require a 9-digit zip code when setting up payees.
For the new We Energies address, the full 9-digit zip is:
60025-8125
Having this complete zip code handy will ensure your bill payment gets routed properly from your bank’s bill pay system.
Mailing a Paper Check?
If you prefer mailing a paper check directly to We Energies each month, always use the payment stub from your latest bill. This will have the new PO Box pre-printed.
You can also write the full address on the envelope:
We Energies
PO Box 1125
Glenview, IL 60025-8125
This ensures your payment arrives at the correct location for prompt processing.
Will Payments be Forwarded?
According to We Energies, any payments sent to the old Milwaukee payment address will be forwarded to the new address for processing. This forwarding will remain in place for around 90 days.
However, I suggest updating your payment address right away to prevent any delays or issues. Relying on mail forwarding is not the ideal solution.
Avoid Late Fees and Service Disruptions
The main reason it’s so important to have the right bill pay address is avoiding late fees or service interruptions. If your payment gets lost or delayed, you could incur late fees around 1.5% of your balance.
In a worst case scenario, severely overdue accounts can have electric or natural gas service disconnected. You want to avoid this at all costs.
Sending your payment to the proper We Energies PO Box reduces errors and keeps your account in good standing.
