Having electricity available with the simple flip of a switch is something many of us take for granted. But providing continuous, reliable electric service to homes and businesses takes skilled workers and complex infrastructure behind the scenes. Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (WRECC) strives to deliver affordable power to its members across multiple Kentucky counties. Paying your monthly electric bill helps support system maintenance and future improvements. This article provides an overview of WRECC and the ways members can pay their electric bills.
About Warren Rural Electric
WRECC is a member-owned electric cooperative providing service to over 33,000 homes, farms and businesses across 7 counties in south central Kentucky. Formed in 1939, the not-for-profit co-op is democratically governed by its customer-members
WRECC buys electricity from power suppliers and manages the local distribution system. This includes thousands of miles of line, substations, transformers meters poles, and advanced monitoring equipment. Member electric bills help cover these operation and maintenance costs.
As a cooperative, WRECC strives to provide reliable electricity at the lowest possible price. Rates are set by the member-elected board of directors. Bills include a fixed monthly charge plus a variable rate based on metered kilowatt-hour usage
Understanding Your Electric Bill
WRECC bills members monthly for electric service. You can expect to receive your statement within the first few days of each month. It will show your previous and current meter readings, number of days in the billing cycle, and kilowatt-hours used.
Charges are calculated based on the current rates, including the customer charge, energy charge, and any applicable fees or adjustments. Review your bill details so you understand what makes up the total amount due. Compare usage month-to-month to detect abnormal spikes that could signal issues.
Current WRECC rates are published on the co-op website or available from member services. You are responsible for timely payment even if you don’t receive a bill.
