Paying bills is one of those necessary evils in life. And when it comes to utilities like water, it’s not a bill you can simply skip – running water is essential. That’s why Smiths Water & Sewer Authority (SWSA) offers several convenient payment options to make paying your water bill quick and hassle-free each month.
As a SWSA customer myself I appreciate how they’ve modernized bill payment to suit my busy lifestyle. Between automatic bank draft online payments, phone payments, and more, I never worry about late fees or service interruptions. SWSA provides flexible solutions to fit all payment preferences.
In this article I’ll outline the various ways to pay your SWSA water bill. Whether you like automatic payments, online payments phone payments, or mailing checks, SWSA has a solution for you.
Automatic Bank Draft
The easiest way to pay your SWSA bill is to enroll in automatic bank draft. This authorizes SWSA to withdraw the amount due directly from your bank account each month.
To set up bank draft, complete the auto pay enrollment form on the SWSA website. You’ll need your SWSA account number, bank account number, and bank routing number. The online form only takes a few minutes to complete.
Once enrolled, SWSA will automatically draft your water bill from your bank account on the due date each month. You still receive a bill to review charges. Bank draft is free and can be cancelled anytime if you switch banks or payment methods.
I love the convenience of automatic bank draft It’s one less bill I have to keep track of and provides peace of mind knowing my payment won’t be late
Online Bill Pay
For fast electronic payment, SWSA offers an online bill pay portal. You can access it directly from their website – just click “Pay Bill”.
After logging in with your SWSA account number, you can view your balance due and make an online payment. Accepted payment methods include credit card, debit card, or electronic check.
The online portal also allows you to:
- View billing history
- Check water usage
- Update account information
- And more!
I make most SWSA payments through the online portal. Storing my payment information makes checkout a breeze each month. And I love the instant payment confirmation.
Pay by Phone
For quick phone payments, SWSA has an automated pay-by-phone system. Just call 334-378-3633 anytime and follow the prompts.
With the phone system you can:
- Make one-time payments
- Store payment methods for future use
- Pay with MasterCard or Visa
The major perk of phone payment is the ability to pay at any hour – 24/7 service! As long as you have your account number, paying by phone takes just a few minutes.
Pay by Mail
SWSA still accepts mailed check or money order payments if you prefer paying the traditional way.
To pay by mail, send your payment to:
SWSA
PO Box 727
Smiths Station, AL 36877
Be sure to include your SWSA account number on the payment to ensure proper posting. Allow 5 business days for mailed payments to avoid late fees.
While not as convenient as electronic payments, I know some customers prefer mailing in a paper check. SWSA makes that easy by providing a payment stub to include with your mailed bill payment.
Pay In Person
For in-person payments, SWSA has a few options:
- Drive-through window at their office at 2848 Lee Road 243 in Smiths Station
- Night drop-box for after hours payment drop off
- Local utility companies like Alabama Power occasionally accept SWSA payments
I occasionally use the drive-through when I’m in the area running errands. It’s quick and easy for those who don’t love electronic payments.
Avoid Late Fees with Prompt Payment
No matter how you pay your SWSA bill, be sure to pay it on time by the due date. Late payments incur fees, so set payment reminders if that helps you remember.
Enrolling in automatic payments like bank draft or recurring credit card payments ensures your bill gets paid on time without the hassle of manual payment. SWSA even offers email bill reminders so your payment deadline doesn’t sneak up on you.
As a SWSA customer, I appreciate how they’ve modernized bill payment to suit my needs. The variety of options – automatic, online, phone, mail, or in person – provides a convenient solution for every customer.
If you have any questions about setting up automatic payments or using the online bill pay portal, SWSA’s customer service team is extremely helpful. Give them a call at 334-298-6342.
Paying your water bill doesn’t have to be a chore. With SWSA’s flexible payment options, it takes just minutes each month. Sign up for automatic payments to save time and avoid late fees. Your bank account will thank you!
