MDX stands for the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority They operate and maintain five expressways in Miami-Dade County

• SR 112 Airport Expressway
• SR 836 Dolphin Expressway
• SR 874 Don Shula Expressway
• SR 878 Snapper Creek Expressway
• SR 924 Gratigny Parkway

Vehicles are charged a toll when driving on these expressway roads. The toll amount varies depending on the type of vehicle (2 axle vs multi-axle) and payment method.

Drawbacks:

• Pay 50% more than SunPass toll rates

Toll-By-Plate is meant for infrequent drivers on MDX roads. For regular commuters, SunPass saves significantly more over time.

3. Cash

Some MDX toll plazas still accept cash payment. You must have exact change – toll collectors cannot make change. Cash lanes are labeled with black and white vertical stripes at the toll plaza.
