How to Pay Your DU Bill: A Step-by-Step Guide

Paying your DU bill on time each semester is crucial for avoiding late fees and maintaining your enrollment status. With options like online payments, payment plans, wire transfers and more, DU offers flexible billing and payment solutions This article will walk you through the various ways to pay your DU bill

Overview of DU Billing

DU bills students each quarter or semester depending on their program. Bills are generated through DU’s Student Information System and can be accessed online via the Student Account Center.

Bills typically include

  • Tuition and fees
  • On-campus housing costs
  • Meal plan charges
  • Health insurance fees
  • Any outstanding balances

Payment is due by the published due dates each term to avoid late payment penalties. Students can pay their full balance or sign up for a payment plan to spread costs over the semester.

Online Payments Through DUPay

The fastest and easiest way to pay your DU bill is through the university’s DUPay online payment system. DUPay allows you to securely pay your balance using a checking account, savings account, or credit card. Here’s how to pay online:

For Students

  1. Log into PioneerWeb using your student DU ID and password
  2. Under the Student Account Center, click on “Pay Bill with DUPay”
  3. Select either “ACH” for bank account payment or “Credit Card”
  4. Enter your payment information and submit

For Authorized Users

Parents, employers or others can be set up as authorized users to view bills and make payments. Follow these steps:

  1. Have the student login to DUPay and add you as an Authorized User
  2. Check your email for the username and password
  3. Log into DUPay and select “Make Payment” to pay by ACH or credit card

Online payments via DUPay are the most convenient way to pay your DU bill. Just be sure to pay by the due date each term!

Setting Up a Payment Plan

If you need to spread your payments over several months, DU offers quarterly or semester payment plans. Payment plans break your balance into 3-5 smaller payments over the term.

To enroll in a payment plan:

  1. Log into the Student Account Center
  2. Under “Make a Payment” select “Enroll in Payment Plan”
  3. Choose either Quarterly or Semester plans
  4. Follow the instructions to set up your payment schedule

There is a $50 application fee per term. Late payment fees apply if you miss a scheduled payment date, so be sure to mark your calendars!

Paying by Wire Transfer

For international payments or large dollar transfers, a wire transfer may be the best option. To pay your DU bill by wire:

  • Contact your bank to submit the wire transfer
  • Provide DU’s wiring instructions available here
  • Notify the DU Cashier’s Office of the transfer

Be aware that wire transfers can take 5-10 business days to process. Plan ahead to ensure your payment arrives by the due date!

Paying by Check or Money Order

If you prefer to pay your DU bill by physical check, you can mail your payment to:

University of Denver
Office of Student Billing
University Hall, Room 223
2197 S. University Blvd.
Denver, CO 80208

Please include your DU ID on the check and allow 7-10 days for delivery and processing.

Cash payments are accepted in-person at the Cashier’s Office in University Hall. Money orders can also be mailed or paid in-person.

Employer Reimbursed Payment

Some employers offer tuition reimbursement to their employees. If your employer reimburses you for tuition costs, you can work with DU’s Cashier Services to set up a reimbursement payment plan.

To use employer reimbursement:

  • Inform your company you need reimbursement each term
  • Provide your company with a DU billing statement
  • Set up with DU Cashier Services to defer payment until reimbursement is received
  • Submit payment immediately upon receiving your reimbursement

This allows you to attend classes without paying upfront while waiting for your company’s reimbursement.

Using Third Party Payers

Third party payers like vocational rehabilitation services, veteran’s benefits and workforce agencies sometimes cover students’ tuition and fees.

If a third party is paying your DU costs, contact the Cashier’s Office to provide:

  • Documentation from the third party confirming payment
  • Student details (name, ID)
  • Term and amount to be covered

The Cashier’s Office will invoice the third party. You just need to notify them if the third party fails to pay.

Getting Help with Repayment

If you’re struggling to pay your DU bill, the university offers assistance like:

  • Emergency loans – Short-term, low interest loans for immediate needs
  • Loan deferment – Postponing loan repayment while in school
  • Forbearance – Temporarily postponing or reducing loan payments

Before you fall behind, contact the Office of Student Billing to discuss repayment solutions. It’s important to maintain your account in good standing.

With DUPay online payments, payment plans, reimbursement options and more, paying your DU bill is easy and flexible.
