When working with your insurance company, we encourage you to:

  • Call your insurance provider prior to hospital admission, test or doctors visit. (Patients may receive a separate bill from other providers (i.e. Radiologists, Anesthesiologists) and those providers may or may not participate in the same health plans as the hospital. Consumers are encouraged to contact their provider to determine health plan participation.)
  • Have your insurance card ready with plan/provider/member ID number and the name and/or type of plan (HMO, PPO, etc.).
  • Verify that Holy Cross Hospital and the Holy Cross Medical Group are “in-network.”
  • If your plan is an “Exchange Plan,” ask the insurer if Holy Cross participates in the plan.
  • If we are not in your plan, ask if your benefit plan has “out-of-network” benefits, and what are the out-of-network copayments or coinsurance.
  • Share with them the date of scheduled service, if booked.
  • Share the name of the procedure to be performed.
