As a longtime Puget Sound Energy (PSE) customer in Washington state, I used to always mail my payments. But after a few lost checks and late fees, I decided it was time to start paying my PSE bill in-person.

  • No more lost or delayed mail payments
  • Payment posts to your account quickly, typically within 1-2 business days
  • Get receipt for proof of payment
  • Avoid late fees with guaranteed on-time delivery

Or open the full list of PSE bill pay locations (PDF) organized by city.

On Your PSE Bill

Your monthly bill also lists nearby pay stations right on the statement for easy reference.

With over 100 locations across Washington, you likely have multiple options within a short drive Popular spots include grocery stores, pharmacies, retail chains, and banks

What Payment Types Are Accepted?

PSE pay stations accept a variety of payment types:

  • Cash – Most locations accept cash payments
  • Check – Pay by personal check made out to PSE
  • Money order – Purchase a money order payable to PSE
  • Debit card – Use your pin-based debit card to pay
  • QR code – Some locations now accept mobile payment QR codes

When paying in-person, you must bring your paper bill statement. The CSR will scan the barcode to process payment.

Tips for Paying at PSE Pay Stations

If you decide to start paying your PSE bill in-person, here are some tips:

  • Find 3-4 convenient locations near home or work
  • Bring your printed bill statement every time
  • Know the business hours – many have extended evening and weekend hours
  • Carry ID in case the clerk asks for verification
  • Double check payment amount before submitting
  • Save receipt as proof of payment
  • Pay a few days before due date to ensure on-time delivery

I try to go mid-month at off-peak hours to avoid crowds. And I put the receipt right in my bill file as soon as I get home!

Payment options and information

Puget Sound Energy has provided energy throughout Washington for nearly 150 years. We’re proud to call the Northwest home and we’re even prouder to serve customers like you.

Serving you also means we must keep up with your changing needs. We recognize these needs and developed a robust set of online and mobile bill payment and customer service tools, as a way of making doing business with us simpler, quicker and easier. And as a result, fewer and fewer customers are using our customer service offices. Because of these changing needs, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our customer service offices in August 2019.

Although we’re closing some offices, we’re not closing the door on the communities we serve. We’ve always been, and will continue to be a local company, serving customers and investing in local communities.
