Central Electric Cooperative (CEC) provides electric service to over 25000 members across parts of Pennsylvania. As a CEC member you have several convenient options to pay your electric bill before the due date and avoid late fees. In this article, I’ll explain how to pay online, by phone, in the CEC office, or by mail.
Pay Online
The fastest way to pay your CEC electric bill is online through SmartHub or the Pay Now system
To use SmartHub:
- Go to central.coop/smarthub
- Click “Log In” and enter your account credentials
- Select “Pay Now” and enter payment info
SmartHub allows you to store payment methods, view past bills, monitor usage, set up autopay and paperless billing, and more. Payments post instantly.
Or to make a one-time payment:
- Go to cec.coop/paynow
- Enter your CEC account number and name
- Enter payment info and submit
One-time payments through Pay Now take 1-2 business days to process.
Pay by Phone
Call CEC at 1-800-521-0570 and select option 2 to use the automated phone payment system You’ll need to enter your account number and last 4 digits of the social security number or federal ID number on the account. The system is available 24/7 and you can pay with a debit/credit card or checking account
Pay by Mail
Send a check or money order payable to Central Electric Cooperative to:

Write your 15-digit account number on the payment to ensure proper crediting. Allow 5-7 days for mailed payments to process.

Payments made at CEC offices by 4:30pm on a business day post to your account same-day.
Avoid Late Fees
CEC bills are due by the 25th of each month. A 5% late fee will be applied to the unpaid balance if payment is not received by the due date. Pay on time to avoid this extra charge.

If you need help paying your CEC electric bill, call 1-800-521-0570 as soon as possible to set up a payment plan. Payment arrangements allow you to make partial payments over several months.
