Your water bill amount is based on how much water you use, measured in hundreds of gallons (HCF). The city calculates your usage based on readings from your water meter. They take a meter reading at the beginning of each monthly billing period.
In addition to the charges for your actual water usage, your monthly bill includes a base charge and fees for sewer, garbage collection, and drainage services. The total bill is the sum of all these charges.

When to Pay Your Water Bill
The City of Irving expects payment of your water bill by the 16th of each month. If you miss this deadline, you’ll start racking up late fees.
I recommend paying your bill as soon as you receive it to avoid forgetting. You can even set up automatic payments directly through the city’s website to have it paid on time without any extra effort on your part.
If you do happen to miss a payment, don’t panic. The city won’t immediately shut off your utilities. But you will need to pay the past due balance as soon as possible to avoid penalty fees. Failing to pay after multiple notices can eventually result in service disconnection.
The good news is that if you’re having trouble paying your bill, the city does offer payment plans to qualifying customers. Get in touch with their billing department to discuss options.
How to Pay Your Irving Water Bill
When it comes time to pay your water bill each month, you have several convenient options:
Pay Online
The easiest way to pay is through the City of Irving’s website. You can pay by e-check or credit/debit card online. Just visit www.cityofirving.org/632/Water-Utilities and click on the “Pay Water Bill” button.
To pay online, you’ll need your account number and the amount due. Both are printed on your monthly bill. Make sure to select the correct account if you have more than one property in Irving.
Online payments process instantly, so you don’t have to worry about your payment getting lost in the mail. You’ll have peace of mind knowing your bill is paid and on time.
Pay by Phone
If you prefer to pay your bill over the phone, call the City of Irving Utility Billing department at (972) 721-2215. You can make a payment using your debit/credit card or electronic check.
Just like with online payments, you’ll need your account number and amount due ready when you call. The representative can also provide your current balance or payment history if needed.
Pay by Mail
To pay your water bill through the mail, simply send your payment stub along with a check or money order to the address printed on your bill. Be sure to mail it several days before the due date to ensure it arrives on time.

Pay in Person
You can also pay your water bill in person at Irving City Hall, located at 825 W Irving Blvd. They accept cash, checks, money orders, and credit/debit cards.
City Hall is open Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, except on holidays. Get there before 4 PM to allow enough time for waiting in line and processing your payment.
Sign Up for Automatic Payments
My personal favorite option is setting up automatic payments through the city’s website. This way, I never have to think about my water bill – it’s paid automatically each month on the due date without me lifting a finger.
To enroll in auto-pay, you’ll need to create an account on the website and register your bank account. On the payment date each month, the city will automatically debit your bank account for the amount due.
You can cancel or change your auto-pay option at any time through your online account. Just log in and click on “My Utility Bill.”
Avoid Late Fees and Service Disconnection
Now that you know how and when to pay your Irving water bill, be sure to avoid paying late. Not only will you incur penalty fees, but your service could eventually be disconnected if your account falls too far behind.
