A Guide to Paying Your Ocala Electric Utility Bill

Handling monthly bills can be a real drag. But paying your electric bill doesn’t have to be painful, even if you’re not too tech savvy. The Ocala Electric Utility offers simple payment options to fit anyone’s preferences. Read on to learn the easy ways to pay your Ocala electric bill.

As an Ocala resident, I’ve tried every payment method available. Here, I’ll walk through the pros and cons of each based on my experience so you can choose what works best for you.

Pay Online

The fastest and most convenient way to pay is through the Ocala Electric Utility website You can make one-time payments or set up recurring automatic payments.

To pay online, first create an account on the website Have your account number handy. Enter it along with some basic contact information to register

Once your account is set up, you can log in anytime and click “Pay Bill.” Enter your payment details including the amount due. You’ll need to provide either a credit/debit card number or your checking account information.

Payments through the website process instantly. I like getting the email receipt for my records and the peace of mind knowing my bill is handled.

Pay via Phone

If you prefer talking to a real person, Ocala Electric Utility’s automated phone system is super straightforward.

Call 352-351-6666 and select the payments option. Follow the prompts to enter your account number and credit/debit card information. The transaction only takes a couple minutes.

One thing to note is that you can’t set up recurring payments over the phone. But it’s an excellent option for making a quick one-time payment.

Mail In Your Payment

Mailing a check or money order is a classic way to pay bills. If you already have a routine for mailed payments, keep it up with your electric bill!

Ocala Electric Utility provides a payment stub and envelope with each paper bill. Just detach the stub, attach it to your payment, and pop it in the mail.

Make sure your account number is written on the check or money order. And mail it 7-10 days before your due date to ensure on-time arrival.

While mailing payments takes more planning, I like having a physical receipt copy for my records. Sometimes doing things the old-fashioned way is reassuring.

Pay In Person

For personal, face-to-face service, the Ocala Electric Utility downtown office is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.

You can pay with cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card. I suggest paying in person when you first set up service or need to discuss account details. The representatives are always so helpful!

Just note that the office only accepts payments for electric utility bills. If you need to pay your water bill too, you’ll have to do that separately through one of the other options.

Use the 24/7 Drop Box

If heading downtown during business hours doesn’t work with your schedule, no worries! There is a drop box right outside the utility office that you can use 24/7.

Place your check or money order in an envelope with your account information written on it. Drop it in the slot and your payment will be processed on the next business day.

The drop box is perfect for those odd hour errands. I’ve used it many evenings and weekends to slip in payments after work. Super convenient!

Sign Up for AutoPay

My personal favorite option? AutoPay through the website! When you enroll, Ocala Electric Utility will automatically debit your credit card or bank account each month on your due date.

One less thing to remember each month! Ocala will send you an email reminder before each payment as well so you stay in the loop.

Signing up for AutoPay allows me to go months without thinking about my electric bill. I don’t have to deal with mailing payments or remembering due dates. It’s one less hassle in my life!
